kindle software update
The Nook Vs the Kindle what is your experience?

Ok I have been looking at the e-readers for months now and I haven’t gotten one since I don’t know who anybody who did get one. So I am asking here. I buy books from both Amazon and Barnes and Noble? and I am interested in getting the better of the two all around…I guess the best features in the long run I suppose.

I am wondering if one goes out of date if you have to replace it or is there automatic software updates?

I have read reviews but I am looking for actual users of either products to tell me what they think or if they would choose different or whatever is better or worse with either model.

Which one have you found to be the better of the two choices?

Thanks guys.

I have a Nook & I love it! I also considered the Kindle because I shop on Amazon often. It’s been around longer, and has the text-to-speech feature. Unfortunately, text to speech is not available with all books. Software updates are automatic.

I chose the Nook for the following reasons:

1. It supports epub. Kindle does not. You may be able to convert epub files for use on Kindle, but there’s a small fee for each file. Epub is a commonly used ebook format. You can download free epub books online or borrow them from the library.

2. It has a micro sd slot for expandable memory. The Kindle does not.

3. The Kindle’s keyboard is an eyesore. The Nook has a sleeker design.

4. The Nook supports mp3 files. I believe the Kindle may as well. For this reason, lack of text to speech was not a dealbreaker for me. If I’m busy but still want to listen to a book, I can play an audiobook. I can also play my music which I have loaded.

5. The Nook allows you to use your own photos as screensavers. The Kindle does not.

6. With the Nook, you are able to loan some titles to friends.

7. The Nook has a user replaceable battery. The Kindle does not.

8. I was able to try it in the store.

I believe that sums up my reasons for choosing Nook. In the end, it depends on what features you like as they are both good products.
